The Castle needlecraft group will take a much-deserve break over the summer after having put in a lot of hard work! The latest project has been to create a quilt depicting Cardigan Port and its historical shipping lines.

The group has grown to include 15 regular quilters as well as people who drop in occasionally. People who have never sewn before have been able to learn from those with more experience and create their first ever section of quilt.

Lisa Hellier, the group’s leader, said: “I love leading community projects like this one and am looking forward to begin meeting again after the summer. In September we will bring all the squares together to create a fantastic quilt which the community can be proud of.”

Gwenllian Evans, Castle Volunteer Coordinator said: “It’s exciting to see the finished squares as they’re coming back in. I’ve already seen many beautiful and imaginative pieces and I’m looking forward to seeing the whole quilt in September.”

If you have been working on a square of the quilt and have a finished piece – please drop it into the office where we are collecting all the completed squares.

Please keep an eye on the Castle website, www.cardigancastle.com for the date of the next meeting.
