Ceredigion AM Elin Jones has written to the Chief Executive of Hywel Dda Health Board to seek clarification of the Board’s plans for the proposed Aberaeron Health Centre.

The plans for the integrated health centre, proposed to replace Aberaeron’s cottage hospital, included one of the town’s GP surgeries. Now, with news a partner at Oxford Street Surgery is to retire, placing the future of that surgery in doubt, the local AM is concerned about the future shape of the health centre plans.

Elin Jones, local Plaid Cymru AM for Ceredigion, said:

“At least one GP practice was always envisaged to be part of the new development of an integrated health centre at Aberaeron.

“There has already been a long delay surrounding this project, and I am sure that the Health Board will be anxious to reassure local residents about the status of the plans following this latest news regarding the GP’s retirement.

“I hope that the Board will also do all in its power to ease the transition for patients currently registered at the practice.”
