Votes are needed to secure funding for a local Riding for the Disabled group (RDA).

The North Pembrokeshire and Cardigan RDA has been shortlisted for a financial award from the Lloyds Bank Community Fund, and could gain a £3,000 grant to continue with its work in the area.

If successful, the award would help the group continue to provide riding sessions at the Dyfed Riding Centre at Bridell, and offer opportunities to compete, for children and adults with disabilities.

Gini Gristwood, group chairman, said: “This award will make a huge difference to children and adults with disabilities in the North Pembrokeshire and Cardigan area, by enabling us to continue our successful riding lessons, artwork and competition entries. The group is run entirely by a team of dedicated volunteers, who raise all our operating funds each year as well as running weekly riding sessions, in all seasons, come rain or shine.”

Ceredigion AM Elin Jones said: “The RDA is a very worthy cause, and I’m delighted that it has been shortlisted for the Lloyds Bank Community Fund. Over the years, the North Pembrokeshire and Cardigan group has helped countless local people with disabilities. Their work in introducing people to horse riding and animal care can make a real difference. I hope that the community will get behind the bid and enable the association to go from strength to strength.”

Members of the public can vote for their preferred community group on-line, by SMS or Twitter.
