Ceredigion County Council has been praised for its strong leadership.

A Corporate Assessment of Ceredigion County Council was published by the Auditor General for Wales which showed that the Council has developed a culture of corporate performance that helps to stimulate the necessary improvements to its services.

The Auditor General for Wales reported:

“Having carried out an internal restructure of senior management, is demonstrating a corporate performance culture which has good potential to drive the necessary improvement in services and outcomes for its citizens.”

Council Leader, Cllr Ellen ap Gwynn said:

"I am delighted to receive such a positive report on the corporate performance of Ceredigion County Council and one that recognizes that we now have a culture of performance management which helps to drive improvements to our services. It is encouraging that external auditors have seen how successful our drive to transform the way the County operates has been, and that, over such a short period of time.

This report, together with our recent “Excellent” Estyn Report, emphasises that Ceredigion is a County that is being well managed and is one of the better performing Councils in Wales.

We are very aware of the current financial climate, and following a period of engagement over the summer, we are in the process of refining our action plans and reshaping services to meet the challenge of maintaining core services at a time of further financial cuts.

I would like to express my warm thanks to all staff and elected members for pulling together as “Team Ceredigion” for the benefit of the residents of thecounty."
