An exciting new home-care company, Gofalus (Careful), has just set up office in Canolfan Hermon, the Community Resource Centre, based in Hermon, near Crymych in Pembrokeshire.

Local businessman and professional carer, Malcolm Jones, (who has run the successful delicatessen and local produce shop Bwyd y Byd in Crymych with his wife Sue, for over 6 years) is launching his new business, Gofalus, on November 1st.

The Welsh company, which will be based in two offices at Canolfan Hermon, will focus on providing care and support to clients and their families in their own homes– making sure that individual needs are met effectively without comprising human rights or personal dignity.

Malcolm Jones, Gofalus Managing Director, said:

“It’s a very exciting time for us, I’ve been preparing for the launch of this company for many months. We’ll be providing generic services for people who may have needs due to age and frailty, but we’ll also be offering specialist services for those with more complex needs. This can range from personal care, social care and companionship, to supported living for people with learning disabilities.”

To celebrate the company’s opening, and as a first step in promoting social activities for the older local community, Gofalus is launching a new Senior Citizens’ Social Club, (over 60s), on Saturday, 1 November at Canolfan Hermon Community Centre from 9.30am – 3.30pm.

Malcolm Jones: “Canolfan Hermon is the perfect home for our business, its facilities are excellent and very accessible. It is already at the heart of its community, providing all sorts of events and activity opportunities for local people. Gofalus is really keen to ask the local communities, and potential clients, what they would like to see us develop in terms of regular, social activity for the over 60s on their own doorstep.

“Our first social session on 1 November is an opportunity to come along and tell us what you would like to see happening here at Canolfan Hermon for the older generation. Sessions could include activities such as dancing, bingo, guest speakers, general socialising and much more. We will take your lead. We hope that this social club will provide a place of safety for families to bring loved ones out for a day, knowing that they will meet new friends and be looked after in a warm and friendly environment.”

First session is at an introductory rate of £5 (normally £7.50), this also covers the cost of tea and cake. Lunch is not included but can be purchased on the day.
