Following the series of public meetings on the implications of the Longley Report on the future of Bronglais Hospital and the NHS in mid Wales, Plaid Cymru has urged rapid progress in implementing the recommendations of the Report.

Local AM Elin Jones and Westminster spokesman Mike Parker attended the meeting, organised by Hywel Dda Health Board, on 1December 15 at the Morlan Centre.

Mike Parker, Plaid Cymru MP candidate for Ceredigion, said: “It was, as ever, a good turnout, which on a December night shows how much concern there is in the area for Bronglais and associated health services. The mood was positive towards the establishment of the Mid Wales Health Collective, though there is understandable scepticism about whether it will achieve its noble ambitions. The Hywel Dda board members there were left in no doubt that we are all watching very closely.”

Elin Jones, local AM for Ceredigion and Plaid Cymru Shadow Health Minister, said:“It’s important now that we see rapid progress in the New Year in putting the recommendations of the report into effect. The appointment of a capable and independent chair for the Mid Wales Collective would be a good first step in making this blueprint for a sustainable future for Bronglais a reality.”
