Carys Davies from Cilgerran is facing one of her biggest fears to raise money and awareness for Tenvous Cancer charity this week.

Carys, aged 26, will be completing a zipwire challenge where she will launch herself off the 190 ft tall St Davids Hotel and Spa in Cardiff across the bay on a zipwire.

She is doing this challenge in aid of Tenvous Cancer Charity after her whole life was turned upside down by finding out her mother had breast cancer.

Carys said: “Unfortunately my family were affected by cancer not so long ago. In July 2013, I received the devastating news that my mum had breast cancer.

"It was such a terrible shock - my whole world collapsed. Thankfully, due to medical advances in Oncology, she got the treatment she needed and I’m happy to say that she’s on the mend now. "

Everyday in Wales, 49 people are told they have cancer, so Carys explained that even though she has a big fear of heights, this challenge is worth doing because it is for such an amazing cause.

Her original target was to raise £100 for Tenvous but after a lot of support she has now raised £550 and is hoping to now reach £700.

She explained: “I would like to thank everyone that has sponsored me so far - your money is going to an incredibly worthy cause. Your support means that Tenovus can fund more vital research

provide more services for people affected by cancer and do more work promoting healthy lifestyles to prevent cancer in the first place.2

To help Carys reach her target, sponsor forms are available at J.Gerallt Davies & Son, Cardigan or you can donate directly to her fundraising Page at www.jystgiving.com/CARYSDAVIES11

Carys will be at Cardiff Bay on May, 2 and her challenge will start at 4pm for those interested in watching.
