FINANCIAL SUPPORT

TWO local events have made financial requests to Newcastle Emlyn Town Council. A donation of £100 each was made to the Newcastle Emlyn Food Festival and the Eisteddfod in the town.

"The food festival is an annual event and it brings people to the town," explained Cllr Alan Jones.

TREE STORY

"Disgusting, absolutely disgusting" – that’s how Newcastle Emlyn Town councillor Hazel Evans described the vandalism of the tree planted in Sycamore Street to celebrate the town being awarded the Fairtrade status.

"The tree had been left there for quite a while and I though oh actually it’s going to survive this time and it was looking good," added Cllr Evans at the monthly meeting of the Town Council.

Cllr Alan Jones added: "Let’s set the ball rolling and have it changed with a bigger tree and a metal frame around it. Let’s get it done as soon as is possible, we don’t want a broken tree on Sycamore Street."

The Town Council decided to plant another tree.

Road layout

The new road layout in Aberarad is a ‘nightmare’ according to Town Councillor Hazel Evans who wants to see an urgent review of the road layout.

‘ When you are driving and there’s a lot of sun or in the evenings you can’t see the road narrowing. More bollards or something need to be added. I’ve nearly had an accident there three times!’ explained Cllr Evans who said the Police will also monitor the situation.

Cllr Evans has contacted Carmarthenshire County Council and will make urgent enquiries.
