A concert is being held to raise money to go towards a bursary for a young, local musician to attend a unique music course at Rhosygilwen.

The bursary is in memory of Lesley Robinia, who was a member of the Teifi Chamber Orchestra. Lesley was also one of the founders of The Kodaly Society of Wales, a charity set up to inspire and develop young musical talent.

The Guildhall is pleased to welcome back virtuoso violinist Davinder Singh. He will perform with his sisters Rakhi and Simmy, and they will be joined by pianist Guillaume Mathias.

Guillaume will perform a variety of classical and traditional pieces on strings and piano,

including Katchachurian’s Sabre Dance, Y Sosban Fach and Debussy’s Clair de Lune.

The Kodaly Society of Wales was formed in 2011 to provide opportunities for young musicians to learn with professional artists and to gain performance experience.

Their volunteer tutors from around the world provide highly specialised music education.

The concert will be held in the Great Hall at 3pm on July 5. Tickets are £10 and available from The Guildhall, Cardigan or call 01239 615554.
