The Small World Theatre and Ysgol Gynradd Aberteifi are busy preparing for their performance at Cardigan Castle.

Small World Theatre, Ysgol Gynradd Aberteifi and Cardigan Castle are working together to produce a new, exciting performance called 'Stori Aberteifi' which will be performed in the Castle grounds at the end of term.

Stori Aberteifi is a fast, imaginative romp through Cardigan's history from the Celts to the present. You can expect to see references to Yr Arglwydd Rhys, Cardigan's fishing and agricultural heritage, the first Eisteddfod, Barley Saturday and much more.

After being awarded a grant from the Arts Council Wales, Ysgol Gynradd Aberteifi was able to commission Small World Theatre to create a supportive, motivational project that is open to all members of the public.

The school is fully immersed in the performance, making every prop, puppet and costume to celebrate local traditions, historical events and our Welsh heritage.

“One of the main aims of the primary school is to ensure that the pupils learn a variety of new skills within the creative arts,” said acting Headteacher Donna Hanly.

She adds: “By gaining new experiences pupils develop in confidence, learn performing arts skills and develop their understanding of the community in which they live. This is a wonderful opportunity to perform in front of their peers, parents, family, friends and members of the public.”

Cardigan Castle opened its doors in the Spring. It’s popularity with families, large impressive gardens and the fact that it’s central to the history of the town make it an ideal venue to perform a colourful outdoor pageant

The performance will take place on Tuesday, July 14 and Wednesday, July 15.

Audiences are advised to book their tickets in advance. Tickets are £4 for adults and £2 for children, they can be purchased from Cardigan Castle reception which is open Monday – Saturday 10am til 4pm.
