Visitors to this year’s annual Cardigan Agricultural Show enjoyed the activities on offer from Coleg Ceredigion’s stand.

They were invited to roll up there sleeves to try their hand at various activities from construction to operating a wood-turning lathe.

The brickwork workshops were particularly successful with people of all ages.

Visitors were challenged to test their wood crafting skills by learning carving techniques on a wood-turning lathe under the supervision of the tutors from the college’s Furniture Making course - Wales’ sole Furniture Design, Making and Restoration course.

Children were also given the opportunity to take part in a variety of play activities under the supervision of the Childcare and Education tutors.

Whilst Motor Vehicle Engineering staff were on hand to show off a rally car on loan from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David.

As the college is member of the University of Wales Trinity Saint David - group tutors were also able to advise prospective students on the learning pathways which could enable them to progress from Coleg Ceredigion onto degree courses at the University.

“Activities like these are an excellent opportunity for the college to show the public the training and opportunities available on their doorstep,” noted Huw Thomas, Curriculum Manager for Construction at Coleg Ceredigion.

He added: “Not only have prospective students seen what’s available but they’ve also had fun trying out new skills.”
