A SEARCH is underway for local unsung heroes.

Cardigan Co-operative Pharmacy will soon take on a new name and brand: 'Well' and to celebrate is searching for local people who have done something exceptional or are an unsung hero for their work locally.

This could include anything from saving someone’s life to a contribution to charity or voluntary work that has had a positive impact in the local area.

The Cardigan Co-operative Pharmacy is one 780 pharmacies that will change and rebrand under the new name ‘Well’. This follows the £620 million acquisition of the hig-street pharmacy business The Co-operative Group in October last year.

The Cardigan shop will adopt the new Well signage in the next few weeks – and the company is asking local people to nominate local unsung heroes who will be invited as VIP guest of honour to the official opening.

Locals can suggest a nomination by either by emailing wellheroes@havasww.com or by post, to Well Heroes, c/o Havas PR, 52 Princess Street, Manchester M1 6JX.

The closing date for nominations is September 20.

Well pharmacies says as a primary healthcare provider it aims to save customers trips to their GP or local hospital A&E and can also help people make healthy lifestyle changes.

Following the takeover, Well becomes the UK’s largest independent pharmacy chain and the investment in Cardigan is part of a five-year, £200million programme aimed at meeting the needs of local communities – and support increasing pressure on the NHS.

Matthew Hussain, regional manager for Well in Cardigan, said: “We are extremely excited to unveil the new look pharmacy and our branch colleagues are looking forward to providing personalised health and wellbeing services as they continue to serve the community in Cardigan.

“We recognise that many of our customers are tireless in their efforts to support the community, which is why we want to celebrate their work and invite an unsung hero to our grand opening."
