Clynfyw Care Farm is getting ready for apple juicing season.

The community juicing scheme has been running since 2012 with Clynfyw charging £1.60 per bottle for juing, pasteurising and bottling service.

This is one of the many ‘supported employment and training schemes’ running on Clynfyw Farm, Abercych.

"It’s early in the season, but we are already pretty busy,"said Mudita Vihari, Clynfyw’s Chief Apple Juicer for 2015.

She added : "We juiced over 2000 bottles last year, and look to be busier this year. If you have apple trees and you like apple juice, do get in touch. We might be able to help."

Proceeds from this Clynfyw project goes towards the Wheelie Good Idea—sending refurbished wheelchairs and mobility aids to South Africa.

"There are thousands of apple trees in west Wales which go unused each year, while we import over 80% of the soft fruit we eat into the UK," said Mudita. "This is a great way of making use of locally grown food. And it’s delicious."

Most people bring their apples in to be juiced but Clynfyw also offer a a picking service.
