When the New Quay RNLI station celebrated its 150th year in 2014, its story was commemorated in a book written by local author Roger Bryan.

Brian Doble, a leading light in the St Albans fundraising committee had the bright idea of taking a copy with him on a holiday cruise.

He presented it to the ship's company so that it could be available for reading in the ship's library for people to learn about the RNLI and the New Quay station.

To date two further presentations have been made.

Trevor Evans, the longest serving member of the crew at New Quay, with almost fifty years of service, initially as a crew member and latterly on the shore crew, and the proud wearer of the RNLI long service badge, presented a copy to the librarian on the P&O Aurora and is pictured doing so.

Recently, Glyn Griffiths, Lifeboat Press Officer at the station presented a copy to the Fred.Olsen line aboard the Balmoral.

Fred Olsen have a close relationship with the RNLI, having sponsored them for over fifty years and raising funds via collections and a raffle on all its cruises operating from UK ports.

And the story may not end there. Other people connected with the station use various cruise lines and will be encouraged to take along a copy and to do the same.

The book's author, Roger Bryan, said: "I enjoyed compiling the history of the New Quay Lifeboats and was pleased with the end result with its interesting mix of text and pictures, some of them very old. It is fitting that a book about the work of the lifeboat crews is travelling the seas on the cruise ships".?
