FORMER Plaid Cymru leader Lord Dafydd Wigley will give a special luncheon address at Rhosygilwen this month.

The event, on Sunday, February 28, marks the 10th anniversary of the opening of the mansion's Neuadd y dderwen oak hall where many events including banquets and concerts are held.

It is also home to the annual Penfro Book Festival and many other regular events as well as a popular wedding venue.

Glen Peters, of Rhosygilwen, said: "2016 is regarded by many observers as a significant year of change for Wales with the council elections due in May and a June referendum on the EU.

"With a population of three million people around a quarter of Welsh born people live outside its borders. And more young people are being drawn away from rural communities.

"How might Wales exist post Brexit [Britain exiting the EU]? How could a government create more sustainable jobs? Lord Dafydd will give his own personal answers to these questions and how the political and economic landscape might affect our futures.

"He is a formidable speaker and a former politician who has been a mentor to many people in Wales. He was previously leader of Plaid until 2000 and is a passionate supporter of preserving its language and culture and providing affordable homes for local people."

Lunch starts at 12.30pm and bookings are being taken on rhosygilwen.co.uk or call 01239 841387.
