Not only receiving an RNLI forty year service award but at the same time achieving forty years’ service with Western Power.

He was presented with their long service award from his manager, who had attended the meeting.

All three recipients continue in their volunteer roles at the New Quay station.

Prior to the presentation, the five yearly Coast Review of the New Quay lifeboat service took place on Tuesday, April 5.

Lifeboat Operations Manager Roger Couch welcomed everyone to a crew room packed with people - crew, fundraisers, supporters and members of the local community, all volunteers having an interest in the work and future of the service.

The review was conducted by Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Lawrence, Chairman of the RNLI Operations Committee and a team of people representing the Trustees and the Council of the Institution.

The key purpose of the Review is to examine the levels of optimum lifeboat coverage in the area and to look at the longer term strategic objectives through the provision of lifeboats, lifeguards, coastal safety and flood rescue. I

The Lifeboat Station Management and crew were given and took ample opportunity to contribute and to raise various issues. In concluding Sir Timothy remarked that they were going away with an impression of an enthusiastic team and an efficient and well run station.
