CASTELL Henllys Iron Age Village is the fitting venue for an illustrated talk by author Mara Freeman.

Mara writes books about Celtic myths and magical traditions and will be at the Iron Age village on Wednesday, August 17.

The talk, titled The Gates of Annwn – The Magical Landscape of Wales, will take you on a journey to the ‘thin places’ of the Welsh landscape – the hills, lakes, stones and islands – traditionally associated with legends of Annwn, the Welsh ‘Otherworld’.

Mara Freeman said: “The keys to this hidden country can be found in the lore of the land and the treasury of story preserved through the ages, from the Medieval myths of Ceridwen, Taliesin and Rhiannon, to the folk-tales of the faery race known as the Fair Family: Y Tylwyth Teg.”

Castell Henllys Manager Rhonwen Owen added: “Castell Henllys is the only Iron Age village in Britain reconstructed on the exact site where our Celtic ancestors lived more than 2,000 years ago.

“In the hills of North Pembrokeshire, known in Welsh as Gwlad Hud a Lledrith, meaning Land of Magic and Enchantment, it’s the perfect setting for Mara Freeman’s talk.”

The talk is at 7.30pm on Wednesday, August 17 and costs £3.50 per person. Booking is essential, call 01239 891319.
