A man who was swept off rocks into the sea at Mwnt has been named as 23-year-old Luke Morton.

Luke from the West-Midlands was swept off the rocks on August 7 and RNLI lifeboats from three west Wales stations were involved in a search.

Cardigan RNLI lifeboat volunteers launched on Sunday, August 7 and were joined by New Quay RNLI’s crew a and later Fishguard RNLI also launched.

The lifeboats carried out extensive searches in the waters off Mwnt while the Coastguard Rescue helicopter from St Athan and Coastguard Rescue Teams from Gwbert, Cardigan and Moylegrove also searched from the air and on the shoreline.

After six hours of searching in Force 7 winds and choppy seas the sea search was stood down.

The Cardigan RNLI Atlantic 85 boat re-launched the following day on August.

The volunteer lifeboat crew was stood down at about 11.15am and returned to the station

Dyfed-Powys Police and partners are continuing with periodic checks of the coastal area around Mwnt as the man remains missing.
