A 26-YEAR-old Aberporth man will see in the New Year in custody after assaulting a police officer in the village over the festive period.

James Andrew Davies, of Clos Y Fferm, is said to have attacked PC Donoghue on December 27 while being arrested for breaking a bail condition not to contact the victim in a domestic violence case.

Davies, who admitted the breach, is further charged with harassing the victim by leaving abusive messages on her phone between July 25 and August 22.

The defendant is additionally charged with assaulting her by beating on July 20 and also with cultivating cannabis at his home address on August 25.

Davies was remanded in custody to appear before Carmarthenshire magistrates sitting at Llanelli on January 5 for a plea and case management hearing.
