THE first Cellar Bards event will take place this Friday.

The event will see top poet and independent publisher Aaron Kent perform.

The writer – originally from Cornwall – lives with his family in Ceredigion and is a stroke survivor and insomniac. His second poetry collection – The Working Classic – is out now on the87press. He has read poetry for the BBC, The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, and Stroke Association, and has had work published in a number of journals.

He is also an Arvon tutor and has had his poetry translated into French, Welsh, Hungarian, German and Kernewek, and has been set to music.

The Cellar Bards will be hosting events on the second Friday of each month and will be having a wide range of guest readings and performances including Maggie Harris, Mike Jenkins, Kathy Miles, Samantha Wynne Rhydderch, Menna Elfyn, Rae Howells and Tony Curtis.

The next Cellar Bards event takes place on Friday, February 9 at The Cellar, Quay Street, Cardigan. Doors and the bar will open at 7.30pm. Open mic spots are available by signing up on the door by 8pm. Entry costs £3 whether performing in open mic or just watching.
