A 12-WEEK project working with young unemployed people has culminated this week with the donation of a handmade bench to Cardigan Guildhall.
Participants supported by Futureworks Pembrokeshire have been learning the ancient craft of green woodwork at CardiShed.
“Many of the people I work with struggle with motivation due to long-term unemployment,” said Rachel Williams-Smith, of Futureworks.

“By giving them a day a week where they can come and be creative we can build their confidence and increase their employability.”
Volunteering on the project was town councillor Philippa Noble. “The final design of the bench was inspired by the Teifi and Poppit Sands,” she said.
“This has also been a great forum for me to engage with young people from the town.”
CardiShed are hoping that the success of this project may lead to a regular youth day at their site at Queen’s Terrace in Cardigan.
