The Cellar Bards, Cardigan’s only regular spoken word event, is set to celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8 with acclaimed writer and performer, Maggie Harris.

Ms Harris, a Guyanese writer based in the UK, penned 11 books and twice clinched the Guyana Prize.

She also bagged the Commonwealth Short Story Competition for the Caribbean and the Wales Poetry Award.

Director Steven Todd hailed Ms Harris's unique performing style as essential to appreciating her work.

Doors at The Cellar, Quay Street, Cardigan open at 7.30pm with open mic entries accepted until 8pm.

Entry fee is £3.

Fellow writers are welcome to join the open mic, reading either their own work or pieces from their favourite writers.
