Well known local footballer, Steve Blackford is swapping his football boots for running shoes as he attempts the Cardiff Half Marathon, raising money for a very worthwhile local charity – Age Cymru Ceredigion, who are a charity supporting older people, their families and carers living in Ceredigion.

Gwyneth Jones, Age Cymru Ceredigion Chief Officer said “We are so grateful to Steve for entering the Cardiff Half Marathon, and choosing Age Cymru Ceredigion as his charity this year. The marathon is one of many events to celebrate Age Positive Week. The week is a celebration of all that is positive about ageing and the contribution older people make to our communities. At the same time we cannot forget that for some older people, they may need a helping hand from time to time and we can offer that extra bit of help, such as home cleaning, welfare benefits advice, exercise classes, financial advocacy and telephone befriending.

As a charity, every penny counts towards maintaining our services.

Steve said... “I ran the Cardiff Half a few years ago, and it was humbling to see so many running on behalf of some fantastic causes, so I wanted to have another go, and at the same time, support a local charity that does some fantastic work in our community. My previous time was 1 hour 57 mins, and despite being a little older, I’m hoping to improve on that time”

You can donate online by going to the justgiving.com page and looking for Age Cymru Ceredigion/Steve Blackford or alternatively, we have a sponsorship form in our Cardigan office.”
