More than 1,000 extra children and young people have got involved with local sports clubs in Pembrokeshire over the last year, thanks to funding from the Pembrokeshire SPORTLOT Community Chest Grants Scheme.

During that time, £98,000 has been invested in local grass roots sport, enabling 338 volunteers to attend relevant sport training courses.

In turn, this allows more clubs to offer additional opportunities to children across the county to enjoy sport.

A total of 92 grants have been made across 26 different sports, including archery, sailing, table tennis and target shooting, and the more traditional rugby, football, hockey and netball.

The Pembrokeshire SPORTLOT Community Chest panel is administered by Sport Pembrokeshire, the sports development department at Pembrokeshire County Council.

Priorities for the scheme continue to be increasing participation and improving standards by supporting new clubs, new teams and training courses for club volunteers.

The closing date for the next SPORTLOT Community Chest Panel is April 6.
