LLANDYSUL went down to a seven-wicket defeat on their own Tir-Dref stamping ground against South Wales Cricket Association leaders Clydach leaving the Teifisiders in the relegation mire with their next two games against the clubs below them Llangennech and Swansea Civil Service.

Darrel Griffiths and colleagues visit The Park to take on Llangennech on Saturday and seven days later host the Civil Service in games that could go a long way towards deciding their fate.

Llandysul went along steadily as Gary Williams stroked six boundaries in a fine innings of 55, opening partner Ieuan Paske contributed 25 before being bowled by Mike Lloyd and Ben Edkins at first wicket down hit 58 which included six boundaries.

But although Mark Wilson contributed 24 the remainder of the batsmen went cheaply and a total of 204-9 in the allotted 50 overs did not appear a winning one against opponents on top of their game just now.

Seamer James Garland led the visitors’ attack with four wickets and Jo Farthing picked up three wickets.

As the leaders replied Garland was again the mainstay as he scored all round the wicket in a superb innings of 84 which included eight fours and three towering sixes.

The opener was given great support by Steffan Davies at first wicket down who hit eleven boundaries in his 61 and the visitors reached the target for the loss of three wickets in 37.2 overs.
