CARDIGAN darts ace Jamie Lewis is through to round two of the Professional Darts Organisation (PDC) World Grand Prix in Dublin after winning by two sets to one against William O’Connor of Ireland on Sunday.

The match went to a sudden death deciding leg when the 23-year-old Welshman hit double five on his sixth match dart to book his passage, leaving his opponent to rue missing double ten for victory.

Lewis takes on world number eight Michael Smith in the second round tonight after the 25-year-old from St Helens Merseyside defeated Welshman Gerwyn Price in another sudden death leg. The match is on Sky Sports.

Prior to the Grand Prix at the Country West Hotel Conference Centre the Cardigan player achieved a magical nine-darter in round 17 of the PDC Players Championship.
