A PROPOSAL to move the Bay Cup from its traditional end of season slot to pre-season has been overwhelmingly rejected by Costcutter League clubs.
The competition started in season 1954-55 when Lampeter beat Newcastle Emlyn and had its 60th anniversary last season when Llandysul were the winners and Lampeter Town runners-up.
Dewi Stars promoted from Division Two at the end of last season submitted a notice of motion at the league annual general meeting last week proposing the competition be held in midweek and on Saturdays during August and September.
Stars pointed out that holding the Bay Cup at the end of a season put extra pressure on clubs especially those with fixture backlogs.
Holders and Division One champions Cardigan Town withdrew from the competition last term because of a fixture pile-up.
