Cardigan Golf Club has been named as 'Wales Golf Club of the Year'.

The club, located along the Teifi Estuary, transitioned from a committee system of 13 to a board of five to modernise governance leading to significant improvements on and off the course.

The prestigious honour was awarded at the Wales Golf Awards Lunch housed within the Celtic Manor’s 2010 Clubhouse, a former Ryder Cup venue.

"We are absolutely delighted, we have been knocking on the door for a few years, getting shortlisted several times, but to win is thrilling," said Barrie Williams, chairman of Cardigan Golf Club.

He continued: “We have been making steady progress over the last few years thanks to our members who step up to help in various ways."

Changes include a new driving range, conversion of a squash court into an indoor studio with simulator, and continued development of the golf course.
